Hydrolat is fragrant plant water that is left over from the distillation of essential oils. Hydrolat contains the properties and aroma of the distilled plant.
In distillation, the plant or flower is steamed to extract the essential oil. The steam that passes takes with it parts of the plant's properties and fragrances. When the vapor returns to water form, it becomes a hydrolate.
Tip!
For the hydrolate to last longer, store in a dark and cool place.
